Problems with...

Fading, Glare, Heat Build-up?

Pressure Wash Window film or window tint is a micro-thin polyester material made up of either standard metals, precious metals or ceramics which are then embedded into the substrate. Unlike previous generations of films that were dyed and faded quickly, these films hold their original color for many years. Optically clear and ranging from darker to reflective to almost undetectable, our films provide 99% UV protection and varying levels of heat and glare rejection. The films adhere to the glass by means of a chemical bond or a physical bond. Chemical bonds form a dry-adhesion to the glass and physical bonds use special glue-based adhesives. Both of these methods are long-lasting and provide great optical clarity. All of our films come with a lifetime residential warranty and can add beauty and value to your home while protecting it from fading, heat and glare.

Fading

Fading
All of our traditional and designer films offer 99% UV protection to help slow down the fading of your fine furnishings, carpet, hardwood floors, paintings, and window treatments. The suns harsh rays are working nonstop to negatively affect the beauty and integrity of your interior. Left unprotected, windows provide easy entry into your home for the suns harmful UV rays. Properly selected window film can significantly reduce fading and helps you relax knowing that your possessions are in safe hands. While no film can completely stop fading, our films will significantly reduce the three major components that cause fading; UV, heat and visible light.

Glare
From obstructing the view of TV and computer screens to the annoying and irritating "white" light, glare is a common problem in windows facing South, West and East. This glare or white-light can cause a room to become uncomfortable and annoying to be in. When it comes to your home, you want to take full advantage of the style and ambiance that you created. Glare often times requires that blinds or drapes be drawn to make the room feel livable. Doing so eliminates the view and requires the constant adjusting of the window treatments. The addition of window film can cut down on the glare while still allowing for a clear view of the outside. Properly selected film can blend with the style of your home, adding to it a look and feel that actually complements the overall décor.

Heat build-up
If you have ever sat in front of a window that was just too hot or walked into a room that felt like a sauna, then you have experienced the "greenhouse effect". Untreated glass acts like a magnifying glass to draw in the suns infrared rays, creating well above average temperatures. When this occurs in your home, this heat build-up can cause frequently used rooms to become uninhabitable during daytime hours. It is also typical that as one room heats up, the other becomes colder, forcing your HVAC system to struggle to keep up. Whether you are in a southern climate where the suns heat runs year round or in the north where you feel it mostly in the spring and summer, window film can reject up to 79% of the incoming solar energy. A Color and Style for every need By rejecting this energy, your rooms become much more comfortable and livable year round. You will notice within minutes of installation that your home has become cooler, more comfortable and temperature balanced between floors.

A Color and Style for every need
Available in a variety of styles and designer shades, our films offer a range that can suit any need. From neutral or bronze to dual-reflective to patented dual-layer ceramics, Window Genie has a film to fit both your needs and décor. Your Window Genie representative is accustomed to solving problems caused by the sun and can help you assess your situation and work with you or your decorator to help determine the right film for your home. With multiple types of films at various price points, Window Genie has the right film at the right price for you.

What residential film is not... Limousine tint! 67' Chevy low rider tint! Shiny silver nightclub tint!
Window films of today are far and beyond what most peoples beliefs or expectations are. Gone are the days of films that…

  • were just too dark to enjoy!
  • bubbled, peeled and faded under high heat!
  • turned your whole house into one big mirror!
  • required you to change your regular glass cleaner!

With state of the art equipment and machinery and the latest technologies, window film has progressed into a super high-tech process. With crystal-clear views and shades that are pleasing to the eye, window film has evolved into a product that is everything that you think it is not!

    Dyed or Sputtered?
All of our residential films are sputtered not dyed. The old process of dying films has evolved into a high-tech process known as "sputtering". This sputtering process quite simply vaporizes different metals and ceramics in the production process which ultimately turn back into solids imbedded in the film. The advantage is that while dyed films fade quickly in high heat and intense sunlight, sputtered films are extremely resistant to fading and discoloring, a major benefit and breakthrough to the homeowner.

Low-E Glass. To Film or not to Film?
Many people in Michigan have purchased windows from salesmen or been told incorrectly as to exactly what Low-E glass is and what it can do. While Low-E is a more effective and expensive window than clear dual-pane glass, it is not quite what people think. What it is, is a glazing system designed to reduce the amount of energy that passes back through a window from the interior. This means that it is supposed to help keep more of your air conditioning or heat in the room where you need it. As a percentage when compared to clear glass, it does do a better job.

Unfortunately, people also have been told that it stops fading and glare. This is what leads many people to think that they do not need or would not benefit from the addition of solar film. While again it is true statistically that it is better than clear glass, it does not do the type of job necessary to stop these common problems. Anyone who has ever stood in front of a Low-E window on a hot, sunny day knows that the heat pours in through the glass, making the room and its occupants hot and uncomfortable.

A Warranty that lasts Also, you will still see the presence of annoying glare and over time furniture and fabric will continue to fade. Window film is actually a necessary and complementary addition to Low-E glass. While better than clear glass, Low-E combined with solar control window film gives you the best of both words; the benefits of Low-E with the fade, glare and heat control properties of window film.

    A Warranty that lasts
All of our residential films come with a Lifetime Warranty backed by the manufacturer. The warranty is for both film and labor and covers against cracking, peeling, crazing and delamination when installed by an authorized dealer and following film-to-glass recommendations. Although other manufacturers have similar warranties, the proof is in the pudding. When the other films fail, replacement is covered at no charge. But our customers will tell you that the constant disruption and effort required to keep reinstalling the failed film ultimately is not worth the effort. They make the decision to switch to our films during the reinstall process, knowing that failure is not one of our films characteristics. So the choice is yours, stick with a winner that sticks with you, or go with the other guys!
